    Trend Micro Incorporated, is a global leader in security software of 26 years of experience providing smart protection for consumers, businesses and governments. On 16 December 2016, Mr. Law Chee Wan, Manager Technical Sales, Trend Micro Malaysia assisted by Jean Lim, Director of Channel Management and Marketing, Trend Micro Malaysia had given a talk on their prediction of potential future threats and how we can prevent it together. 

    2015 has been a rollercoaster ride for organizations and individuals alike in the world of security, there are cyber threats we face from time to time and any slip ups can lead us into grave situations. 2016 won’t be any different, in fact, cyber extortionists (hackers) have begun improvising a new tactic to con people online by using psychological methods.

    Trend Micro predicts more targeted attacks coming in 2015 for Malaysia

    Hackers and cybercriminals around the world have been quite busy in 2014, even here in Malaysia. We've seen quite a few defaced Malaysian government websites and other targeted attacks both for malicious intent as well as to steal data. According to a new report from Trend Micro tabled by Victor Lo, Regional Consulting Director, SEA Region, Trend Micro, this will continue in 2015 as they predit even more targeted attack campaigns particularly for retail and financial institutions. The Trend Micro report titled "Trend Micro Security Predictions for 2015 and Beyond: The Invisible Becomes Visible" includes the following highlights:

    1. More cybercriminals will turn to darknets and exclusive-access forums to share and sell crimeware
    2. Increased cyber activity will translate to better, bigger, and more successful hacking tools and attempts
    3. Exploit kits will target Android, as mobile vulnerabilities play a bigger role in device infection
    4. Targeted attacks will become as prevalent as cybercrime
    5. New mobile payment methods will introduce new threats
    6. We will see more attempts to exploit vulnerabilities in open source apps
    7. Technological diversity will save IoE/IoT devices from mass attacks but the same won’t be true for the data they process
    8. More severe online banking and other financially motivated threats will surface

    Trend Micro offers free solutions for Shellshock vulnerability

    The recent discovery of the Shellshock vulnerability has made things very scary for practically everyone on the Internet, including mobile users. Since the Shellshock vulnerability allows an attacker to run any commands on an affected system, hackers could use Bash a core program to steal user data with ease. Already, a malware exploiting the Shellshock vulnerability called ELF_BASHLITE.A was spotted by Trend Micro. In response to this, Trend Micro are now offering free solutions for the Shellshock vulnerability but these are just for MacOSX and Linux servers for now.
