2021 Samsung Galaxy A series smartphones could finally feature OIS

The Samsung Galaxy A series may not as be as popular as the Galaxy S and Note series, but the phone lineup is certainly popular with many countries including Malaysia because of its affordability and price. In fact, the Galaxy A51 was the most shipped Android phone of Q1 2020 and a new report just came in that selected devices from the lineup could start using Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) next year.

According to reports, the Galaxy A71, Galaxy A81 and Galaxy A91 are expected to feature the OIS. So far, only the Galaxy A91 has not made an appearance since last year, but rumours have it that it could be a rebadged Galaxy S10 Lite while the Galaxy A81 might be a Galaxy Note 10 Lite in disguise. Only time will tell.

But this begs a question, though - why would Samsung risk a premium feature on a mid-range tier phone lineup? Well, as we mentioned earlier, the Galaxy A51 was the most shipped Android phone which also means that the Galaxy S20 series didn't do that well thanks to the pandemic. While OIS is usually featured on premium phones, perhaps it's time to up their game with the rise of affordable mid-range phones from China and the iPhone SE 2020 dominating the segment.

Should this be true, fans and consumers are likely to favour the Galaxy A series more in the future. Do you happen to own one of them? Let us know what you think and stay tuned for more trending gadget news at TechNave.com.
