Following the implementation of the open payment system at MEX, NPE, BESRAYA and several other highways, another expressway is now joining in and accepting payment via debit or credit cards - The Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH). Currently being tested at one of the highway’s toll plazas, read on to find out more.

Taking to its official Facebook page, PROLINTAS Highways, which operates AKLEH said that the open payment system has been operational at the Datuk Keramat toll plaza since 11am yesterday (9 September). AKLEH users are advised to spot the toll plaza lanes that accept debit or credit card payments via the designated signage with the open payment system sign.

Furthermore, PROLINTAS Highways advised users to use the existing payment method of Touch ’n Go cards should their payment via debit or credit cards fail. Speaking of which, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi previously announced that the open payment system is part of the government’s efforts to transition towards the multi-lane fast flow (MLFF) toll collection system by the end of 2024. MLFF basically removes boom gates at toll plazas and allows for smooth traffic.

Accordingly, 12 highways have been announced to implement the open payment system beginning last month, including:

  • Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH)
  • Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE)
  • Sungai Besi Expressway (BESRAYA)
  • New Pantai Expressway (NPE)
  • Penang Bridge (JPP)
  • Butterworth-Kulim Expressway (BKE)
  • Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP)
  • Western Kuala Lumpur Traffic Dispersal Scheme (SPRINT)
  • Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS)
  • SMART Tunnel
  • Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya Expressway (MEX)
  • Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE)
