We previously got some news that AMD could be adding a new feature to its software suite. That news has now been confirmed by AMD with the release of the new AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition. The software suite comes with a brand new UI and features, including the Radeon Boost feature.

From what we know before, Radeon Boost is an adaptive resolution tech that lowers the resolution of frames when fast movement is detected. But now we also know that it does so via mouse input detection. According to the description given, it seems like the feature is most effective with action games or first-person shooters.

However, there is just one thing you have to take note of here: Hardware compatibility. Radeon Boost will only work with more recent AMD hardware. Specifically, you will either need at least a Polaris-based desktop GPU, or an APUs from the Ryzen 2000 series onwards.

Other features you will find in the Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition includes the Radeon Image Sharpening, Radeon Anti-Lag, and Radeon Chill features. These exist to help sharpen in-game visuals, reduce input lag, and limit FPS to save power, respectively. In addition, the new software suite has easy connectivity to the AMD Link mobile app, can track the stats of games you play, and provide you with media capturing capabilities.
