Affordable Samsung Galaxy Z Fold device could be in development

Back in August 2023, there was a rumour that Samsung was working on a Galaxy Z FE. The aim is to deliver a cheaper alternative to the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip series. What this device is remains unknown, but sources have found signs proving that it's real.

According to WinFuture, Samsung has been working on a product with the internal model number "Q6A". For reference, "Q6" stands for this year's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6. In other words, the Q6A device is most likely a variant of that. In fact, the source speculates that this could be the affordable Galaxy Z Fold device previously rumoured.

There is no news on a cheaper Galaxy Z Flip 6 so far, but we don't think there would be one. A cheaper Z Fold series device makes sense, as the high cost has always been the main reason why most people won't buy one. On the other hand, the Z Flip series is more affordable and has a compact design, which makes it a popular choice for many Samsung fans.

Mind you, this isn't confirmation of Samsung releasing an affordable foldable device this year. The project is likely in the prototype phase and may not be a priority for Samsung. Moreover, there's always a chance Samsung would need more time to make this cheaper variant viable for mass production.
