Recently, we mentioned how Lazada Malaysia introduced an 8% SST tax. Now, Pos Malaysia has follow suit and announced a new tax policy for its deliveries. That said, what should you know about it?
For your information, POS Malaysia will impose a 6% service tax on express delivery, domestic sea parcels and motorcycle delivery services exceeding 30kg. As you can expect, this policy is effective starting today.
In addition, none of the three services were subject to service tax just now. POS Malaysia pointed out that all mail products and international deliveries will continue to enjoy a service tax rate of 0%. In comparison, express delivery services under 30kg will maintain a service tax rate of 6%.
It is worth noting that the government has implemented a new service tax rate of 8% since March 1, but the tax rate on credit cards, charge cards, food and beverages, telecommunications services, parking services and logistics services will remain at 6%.
