Previously, we mentioned how OPPO has introduced the OPPO Find X7 series as the first smartphone to feature 5.5G support. Now, vivo has joined the fray. That said, what should you know about it?

For your information, vivo announced the vivo X Fold3 series and vivo X100 series will feature the latest 5.5G (5G-A) connectivity. This will be done via an OTA update starting this April. Like other brands, vivo also claims up to a 300% increase in network speeds thanks to this upgrade.

In addition, Vivo product manager, Han Boxiao has posted an image detailing the network speed for the X100 Pro. According to the image, it says the phone achieved a download speed of 3619.19Mbps and an upload speed of 160.75Mbps. Plus, we could expect more companies to follow in OPPO’s and vivo’s footsteps.

To recap, the 5.5G support features faster speeds and better optimisations for better connectivity. It's not a far-fetched idea to think that 5.5G connectivity will be the new standard soon. Overall, it will be interesting to see how Malaysians could benefit from this tech. As of now, we should wait for further confirmation from vivo.
