Previously, we shared how the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will gradually wear body cameras starting this October. Well, the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) may also implement body cameras in the near future, as such an initiative was just proposed by the Special Select Committee on Human Rights, Election and Institutional Reform.

As reported by Bernama, the Special Select Committee proposed that JIM should use body cameras as part of the procedures for handling Not to Land (NTL) notices. Moreover, the committee also proposed making immigration procedures more flexible to better suit present circumstances.

Besides that, it was also recommended for airlines to handle NTL procedures directly, without involving third parties, as it is not aligned with international practices and existing laws. As such would make it difficult for government agencies to monitor and could lead to corruption.
