After Taiwan, Australia also bans DeepSeek on government devices

Previously, we mentioned that Taiwan banned DeepSeek for its government devices. Now, it seems that Australia is doing the same. So, what should you know about this?

For your information, the Secretary of the Department of Home Affairs issued a mandatory order to all government entities to prevent the use or installation of DeepSeek products, applications, and web services and to remove all instances of DeepSeek products, applications, and web services installed on all Australian Government systems and devices.

Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke said DeepSeek posed an "unacceptable risk" to government technology, and several Australian media outlets reported on Tuesday that the immediate ban was taken to protect Australia's national security and national interests. However, this prohibition does not apply to devices owned by private individuals.

Australia's decision to ban DeepSeek follows similar action in Italy, while other countries such as South Korea, France and Ireland are also investigating the AI company. We have yet to confirm other details on the news. Hopefully, everything will be resolved soon.
