After over 1 year, Google's currency converter widget for the Malaysian Ringgit is finally back

In March last year, Google removed its currency converter widget when users searched for the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR due to a wrong USD to MYR conversion controversy, which led to Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) reprimanding the tech giant. Google then disabled the widget to address technical issues, and it has been gone until today, when the feature makes an unexpected return.

Now, a Google Search for MYR conversion to any other currency would prompt the widget to appear, as it was before its disappearance more than one year ago. For example, when you search for MYR to USD, the widget would appear as one of the first results.

Furthermore, Google Finance's data on MYR's conversion history with the other currency, in this case the USD, would also appear as before when you click on "More about MYR/USD".

It is unknown what has changed, but the currency converter widget's return is very much welcomed. However, Google Finance do stress in its disclaimers that it doesn't guarantee the accuracy of the exchange rates displayed and advises users to confirm the current rate before making any transactions that could be affected by changes in the exchange rates.
