Not long ago, we saw the news report saying that the upcoming iPhone 13 will be more expensive due to TSMC raising its chip prices amid supply shortages. Now, it looks like chip shortage that has happened since early in the pandemic would continue to haunt affected businesses until 2023.

While companies are coming up with strategies such as redesigning chip products to reduce wafer demand, it still seems like doing so is not helping with the situation. Richard Barnett, Chief Marketing Officer of Supplyframe, which is an electronics industry analyst firm, claimed that "none of these moves is enough to completely avoid the impact that’s affecting everyone and will continue to affect everyone."

Barnett also added that the shortage would continue until the year 2023 in his view. He mentioned that short-term strategies could only purchase limited chip production capacity, while long-term investments may take months or years to take effect.

In the smartphone market, chip shortage has caused production issues for many companies, and one of the examples would be the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE that got delayed due to the circumstance. Not only consumer electronics, but the automobile industry has also taken a hit. Do leave comments to let us know what you think about the news. Stay tuned to TechNave.com for more tech reports.
