Apple has recently updated its support document for the AirPods Pro lineup following the release of the second-generation AirPods Pro and there are some interesting details embedded within the page. The most notable one though has got to be the fact that the new AirPods Pro’s ear tips are incompatible with the original version.

The support page, which can be found here stated that the original AirPods Pro sports a “noticeably denser mesh” than the second-generation AirPods Pro’s ear tips. Apple further asserted that the “Ear tips have been designed specifically for their AirPods Pro generation to deliver the highest-fidelity audio experience,”.

Hence, despite the new second-generation ear tips being physically compatible with the original AirPods Pro, the difference in mesh density could be the culprit as to why both versions are incompatible. Though Apple didn’t specify it in the support document, it’s possible that the mesh density could result in acoustical differences and affect audio quality.

Besides that, the second-gen AirPods Pro has some notable differences from the first-gen, including a new chip, a redesigned case, better ANC, new XS ear tips and more. You can find out more regarding the second-gen AirPods Pro here.
