The Information (via GSMArena) claimed that this could be what Apple is planning for 2022. Allegedly, the company wants to manufacture second-gen Apple Silicon chips with an upgraded 5nm process next year. There won't be a huge increase in overall improvement, but we could expect better power efficiency with the new generation of chips.

So, how can Apple make the new model worth upgrading to? Like highlighted earlier, the company could be looking to use two CPU dies instead of one. Apple could go for Mac devices with an M1 Max chip that has two dies. This dual-M1 Max design could double the performance in larger computers like the Mac Pro, iMac, and 16-inch MacBook Pro. Mind you, Apple would have to ensure that it's technically possible.
