Apple could launch a modified A15 chip as A16 for the iPhone 14 series, alongside an A16 Pro

Recently, it was reported that Apple would not use the same chipset across the upcoming iPhone 14 series. According to previous information, the iPhone 14's non-Pro variants will stick with the A15 chip, while the Pro ones get the new generation A16. However, the latest report claims that it will not be the case as it would raise criticism.

Instead of doing that, Apple will modify the A15 for the non-Pro variants and call it A16. Meanwhile, the Pro variants will, of course, get the A16 Pro. It is not something that the tech giant does out of the blue, as the company is said to be facing production issues for the chip. The future M2 chip of the MacBook Air 2022 would also encounter similar problems on the production lines.

It's worth mentioning that the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro do not share the same A15 chip, as the latter takes advantage of more GPU cores than the A15 chip from the iPhone 13 and an additional 2GB of RAM. Although they have their differences, it is still not that significant compared to what we might be seeing in the upcoming series.

What do you think about getting a slightly better A15 chip on the non-Pro iPhone 14? Leave a comment to let us know your thoughts, and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more smartphone news.
