Previously, we mentioned that Apple released the iOS 17.1.1 update to fix the BMW wireless charging issue. Recently, a similar issue has appeared. However, it’s not the BMW cars that are affected now.
In case you didn’t know, Apple acknowledged the wireless charging problem and the NFC chip not functioning with the iPhone 15 for certain BMW models. As a result, the Cupertino brand released the iOS 17.1.1 update to fix this issue. However, some GM drivers reported the same issue after the update.
Interestingly, the wireless charging was working well before the update. As of now, the models affected are Bolt, Silverado, Sierra and so forth. Fortunately, the NFC chip was not affected this time. Not only did the iOS 17.1.1 do nothing about the issue, but the iOS 17.2 beta was also ineffective.
According to Reddit and GM forums, a few GM users have asked Apple about this problem. Only for them to be redirected back to GM about this issue. Since the feature was working well before the update, we could expect the cause to come from the bug fixes.
We have yet to confirm other details on this matter. Or how it will affect Malaysians as a whole. Thankfully, GM cars are not as prevalent here. Hence, most of us might not be affected by this issue.
