Previously, we mentioned that Apple plans to roll out the bug fixes for the BMW wireless charging issue. Recently, Apple has released the iOS 17.1.1 update to fix this issue. That said, is the problem resolved?

Not too long ago, BMW owners found out that their wireless charging port was incompatible with the new Apple iPhone 15 series. This issue also caused the NFC chip inside the phone to be dysfunctional.

As a result, NFC-chip-related features were rendered useless, and you will have to use another device. Apple is aware of this issue and has released the new iOS 17.1.1 update to address this concern and the bug with the Weather Lock Screen widget. According to Apple’s full release note in the patch:

This update provides bug fixes for your iPhone including:

– In rare circumstances, Apple Pay and other NFC features may become unavailable on iPhone 15 models after wireless charging in certain cars

– Weather Lock Screen widget may not correctly display snow

If you are facing this issue, you might want to update your iPhone as soon as possible. We have yet to confirm if this update works, but it's worth a try. After all, this one came from Apple itself.  Interestingly, the iOS 17.2 update could arrive soon. So, if you want a more stable build and better bug fixes, you can opt to wait for the next update.
