The next-generation Apple iPhone lineup may be getting a considerable price bump due to the disruption to the global supply chain. This is according to Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Ives, which in the latest report by his firm believed that the upcoming iPhone 14 may get a USD100 or ~RM443 price increase compared to its predecessor.
Ives shared his firm’s findings in a special report by The Sun recently and further asserted that prices have been increasing across the whole supply chain. Hence, Apple is planning to pass on these costs to its consumers with the release of the iPhone 14 lineup.
He further elaborated that Apple’s current suppliers have increased their production costs due to the supply chain disruption caused by Covid-19 lockdowns in China as well as the global impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Another analyst, CCS Insight’s Ben Wood, agreed with Ives’ claims, saying that price rise in terms of production is inevitable, but Apple is the one who will ultimately decide whether to go through with it.
Wood said that Apple may also decide to not increase prices as given the cost of living head-winds, a price increase could prove to be counterproductive. Well, we just have to wait for the release of the iPhone 14 Series, touted for this September to find out on which path Apple will take.
