Apple officially launches its Self Service Repair programme

After announcing that a self-repair programme was in the works last November, Apple has finally launched the programme in the United States. Called the 'Apple Self Service Repair', it will be expanded to other countries beginning with Europe later this year.

In a press statement yesterday, Apple said that iPhone customers now have access to parts and manuals that they can use to self-repair their devices. For now, the Self Service Repair store allows users to repair their iPhone SE 2022iPhone 12 series and iPhone 13 series.

Users can get components for more than 200 individuals parts for the mentioned devices. These includes battery, display, camera replacements and more. Besides that, Apple also announced that it will launch Mac self-service repairs later this year.

As for pricing, it varies according to the repair and device type, with newer models such as iPhone 13 Pro components being more expensive. Apple also offers tool rental kits for USD49 or ~RM214 for one week (with free shipping), so that customers who do not want to purchase tools for a single repair still have access to these professional repair tools.

In order to start the Self Service Repair process, a customer will first review the repair manual for the product they want to repair by visiting this website. Then, they can visit the Apple Self Service Repair Store and order the necessary parts and tools.
