With the big hurrah over the newly released iPhone 12 series, Apple hasn't neglected the software side and has new announcements on iOS. Specifically, the company has released iOS 14.1 GM and announced that the third beta round for iOS 14.2 is available for developers.

According to 9to5Mac, Apple accidentally released iOS 14.1 as a public release. But it seems there are still some issues to iron out and the public release was pulled back in favour for a GM build. In case you didn't know, GM stands for Golden Master, a term given to an iOS version that has passed the testing phase and is ready to be commercially shipped out.

We can expect the iPhone 12 series to ship with iOS 14.1, though you should also be able to download the GM version through the Apple Developer Portal. As for iOS 14.2, it would be some time before that's available but there are some features we already know about. The next version is likely to come with Shazam, playback controls on the lock screen, new emojis, and more.

With that said, have you all managed to try out iOS 14.1 or 14.2 for yourself? Which improvements did you like the most? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news like this.
