Smart glasses are a niche product, but don't be surprised when they become mainstream in the future. It may gain more momentum once major tech giants prepare to enter the market. Among them is Apple, which is reportedly developing its own low-power chips specifically for a new line of smart glasses.
According to Bloomberg, Apple’s upcoming smart glasses will be equipped with cameras, microphones, and integrated AI features. It may be quite similar to the Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses in terms of functionality. Other expected features include photo and video capture, real-time translation, and AI-driven object recognition, via a "Visual Intelligence" system that offers information about the user's surroundings.
Additionally, the unnamed Apple smart glasses could feature multiple embedded cameras, which allow for spatial video recording. At the same time, the chips that are similar to those found in the Apple Watch device are designed for efficient performance with minimal power consumption. Apple’s smart glasses are expected to debut by 2026 or 2027, according to the source.
Yesterday, we reported that an Apple Executive said we may not need an iPhone in 10 years, as it could be replaced by AR glasses with AI capabilities. The company is also advancing work on a more affordable version of its Vision Pro XR headset, as well as a second-generation model, despite reported delays.
