Apple reportedly looking into GaN technology to increase charging speed

Generally, Apple doesn't disclose the amount of energy in the iPhone batteries upon and we don't think we will be seeing the company changing that habit anytime soon. But we got some news that the group just placed their orders on GaN charger technology which could change the game.

What do we mean by that? Well, if Apple is not going to bother increasing the battery pack power, they might as well have a faster-charging brick. For those who don't know, GaN-based USB C charging bricks are smaller and compact because of the GaN-on-Si chip technology. Many Android brands such as Xiaomi and Lenovo are already using that, so are Anker, Aukey and Baseus which allow their chargers to reach up to 60W-65W charging speed.

Even if Apple does get on board with the GaN technology, consumers will still have to buy a charger separately. But there's a good chance that the price might be lowered down (or maybe not at all). Nonetheless, it's still cheaper to get third-party chargers, for now, that offers faster-charging speed. You can check out our list of recommended third-party chargers for the iPhone 12 series right here.
