Based on a statement by Joanna Stern on wsj.com, it seems that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 13 series smartphone will most likely come equipped with an in-display optical fingerprint sensor alongside the existing Face ID feature. While not much is known in regards to the Malaysia release date, it does give us a better idea on what to expect when it is officially available in the local market.

To those who are unfamiliar with the technology, optical fingerprint sensor uses light to detect the user’s fingerprint in order to authenticate whether they are the owner or not. Unlike capacitive fingerprint sensors, the optical fingerprint sensor can be embedded inside a display, which provides the user with a much more seamless experience when unlocking their smart device.

However, do take the information with a grain of salt, due to the fact that Apple has yet to provide an official statement on the leak. Not only that, but there’s also no news on the local pricing, and exact tech specs for now.
