As the cases of Covid-19 in our country are slowly coming to a more stable state, our Government will be starting to allow people to travel interstate. For those who travelled back to your hometown and want to go back to the place you work or study at or vice versa, there is a way for you to do it now.

If you want to travel to another state, you are required to apply for permission through the Gerak app that was launched earlier or simply just apply at the nearest police station from 25 April onwards. Through Gerak, you are required to fill in information such as names, the number of family members, and where they are now so that our Government can track if you’re travelling from red or green zones.

If you can’t do the application through the app, you are required to head to the nearest police station to apply for permission, and it doesn’t need to be a district police station. However, you are advised to make a reservation by calling the police station to avoid overcrowding. After the application has been submitted, there is no guarantee that your application will be approved, as future circumstances can’t be foreseen. However, if nothing goes wrong, your application may be permitted after 1 May 2020.

This is one of the ways to keep things in control at this challenging time. For university students, some may have stayed at their campuses throughout the whole period of MCO, so their current health status is being properly tracked. Therefore, it is easier for the government to arrange travel plans for them. It is also said buses will be provided to send them back home. For others, it might be more difficult as they are scattered around different places.
