Since March 2024, Astro announced that customers who have subscribed to Disney+ Hotstar will not have any price changes. However, the company quietly made a change as of 1 October 2024.
Initially, the FAQ section on Astro's website stated "All Astro customers with Disney+ Hotstar bundle/Add-on will be moved to the Disney+ Hotstar Premium Plan". But from October onwards, Astro has switched the Premium plan to the Basic version which is unfortunate. This means the Astro customers with Disney+ Hotstar will lose a couple of benefits including 4K UHD viewing, three concurrent streams and 10 maximum device logins.
For those who don't know, Basic Disney+ Hotstar users can only have one concurrent stream, three maximum device logins and FHD resolution. It's quite a downgrade from what Astro stated a few months ago. So with this, the only way to get the Premium plan is signing or switching to it on the Disney+ Hotstar app itself.
For your information, the Premium plans have three different prices - Annual, Monthly or Quarterly which are priced at RM289.90 per year, RM39.90 per month and RM79.90 per quarter, respectively. Out of the three, the Annual Premium plan is the most cost-efficient, costing RM24 per month.
