As of 9 August 2023, BYD announced it hit a new landmark in the industry. The Shenzhen-based company became the first automaker in the world to produce 5 million NEV (New Energy Vehicles) for its production line. That said, what should you know about this achievement?

According to Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of the BYD company. He was ecstatic with this progress and said:

“Today marks a historic moment for BYD as we witness our 5 millionth new energy vehicle roll off the production line. On this special occasion, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our customers across the globe for their trust in our products, our partners in the industry for this journey shared, and every one of our employees whose hard work and dedication have made this landmark possible.”

As of now, BYD’s new model is available in over 54 countries. That includes Malaysia, Australia, Uzbekistan, China and so forth. Interestingly, the company took 13 years to reach 1 million production for its NEV. After that, it took just 18 months to hit 3 million. Finally, the company hit 5 million car production after 9 more months.

The company achieved this landmark through the production of DENZA N7. This EV (Electric Vehicle) features lidar, facial recognition and an acceleration from 0-100km/h in 3 seconds. Previously, we mentioned BYD Dolphin Malaysia's release starting at RM99000. We have yet to confirm when DENZA N7 will arrive in Malaysia, but it could come very soon.
