Black Shark 5 series Malaysia release: SD 8 Gen 1, 144Hz E4 AMOLED, and 120W Hyper Charge, starts from RM2,299

The Black Shark 5 series has landed in Malaysia tonight with two models, Black Shark 5 and 5 Pro. Powered by the up-to-date Qualcomm chipsets, the devices are here to deliver better gaming performance than before. Now, let's look at the tech specs and features they offer!

The vanilla Black Shark 5 and 5 Pro sport the same 6.67-inch Samsung E4 display with supports for a 144Hz refresh rate and a 720Hz touch sampling rate. Under the hood, the Snapdragon 870 powers the lower variant, while Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 handles the more powerful one. They also get paired with a 4,650mAh battery with 120W Hyper Charge, not to mention they do include a 120W charger in the box.

Of course, how can a gaming smartphone comes without awesome gaming features. The Black Shark 5 series comes with Magnetic Pop-up Trigger 2.0, a Sandwich VC cooling system for the vanilla variant, and an Anti-G Dual VC cooling system for the Pro. They also have the Magic Press that works with seven levels of press sensitivty and helps prevent mistouch.

For photography, both offer a triple-camera setup. The Black Shark 5 brings a 64MP primary sensor, a 13MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro shooter. Meanwhile, the Black Shark 5 Pro has a 108MP primary sensor, a 13MP ultrawide, and a 5MP macro shooter. They have the same 16MP camera on the front for selfies and video calls. Other features of the devices include Shark Eye Lightning Effect, support for Dual nano SIM card, Bluetooth 5.2 and more.

The Black Shark 5 will go on sale in Malaysia with RM2,299 and RM2,699 for the 8/128GB and 12/256GB configurations respectively. On the other hand, the Pro variant retails for RM3,699 and RM3,999 for the 12/256GB and 16/256GB options.
