Back in June, it was rumoured that Canon was going to launch the EOS R5 and EOS R6 this month. Well, that launch has just happened as Canon confirmed that the two new full-frame mirrorless cameras will be coming to Malaysia. They will be arriving with new lenses ranging from Macro to super-telephoto.

According to Canon Malaysia, the EOS R5 and EOS R6 are targeted at advanced amateurs and professionals. The EOS R5 is the higher-end 45MP model that can do 8K video recording, while the EOS R6 is a more affordable 20.1MP camera but can still shoot 4K videos at 60fps. Both are equipped with a new DIGIC X image processor and the Dual Pixel AF II technology, which delivers massive improvements to auto-focusing and a fast continuous shooting speed of up to 20fps.

Moving on to the lenses, there is a total of four new ones announced this time. First, there are three new RF-mount prime lenses - the RF85mm f/2 MACRO IS STM, RF600mm f/11 IS STM, and RF800mm f/11 IS STM. These are fixed focal length lenses that are created for wildlife, macro or portrait photography. Next, there's the RF100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM, which is a super-telephoto lens that's suited for professionals. Additionally, there's the new Extender RF 1.4x and Extender RF 2x that can be used with the new prime lenses.

Canon is expected to launch the EOS R5 in August 2020 for RM17999 (body), while the EOS R6 should be available sometime in September 2020 for RM11999 (body). We'll keep an eye out for more details and the official local launch dates, so do stay tuned to TechNave.com for further updates.
