The co-founder and CEO of Nothing, Carl Pei has revealed that the company is not planning on releasing the successor to the Nothing Phone (1) anytime soon. Taking to his official Twitter account, Pei said that Nothing is not like other companies out there that “churn out dozens of products a year”.

Instead, the company’s main focus right now is to improve the Phone (1) by cooking up something great with its software, Nothing OS. These include updating it to the latest Android 13 software and beyond. Most recently, a Nothing OS's update allows for the Phone (1) to show the battery percentage of connected Apple AirPods.

Previously, Pei also revealed that the tech startup is currently discussing with carriers in the US to launch a smartphone in the country. During an interview with CNBC, the Nothing CEO elaborated that the reason the company hasn’t launched a smartphone in the US was due to the additional technical support needed in the country, such as the unique customisations that carriers need to make on top of Android.

He then confirmed that Nothing is working with some US carriers to launch a future product in the country. It is speculated that the product being referred to is the Phone (2), though if that’s the case, Nothing won’t be releasing any smartphone in the US anytime soon.
