Previously, we mentioned that ChatGPT will be made available for Android users. Today, the app is officially launched in Malaysia. This release comes after the announcement that the Android app would be rolling out to other countries last Wednesday.

As usual, you can download the app from the Google Play Store. However, you might want to be careful because there are copycat apps on Play Store that share similar logos or names. How to find the right one, you wonder. Well, the authentic ChatGPT app displays OpenAI as its publisher.

In addition, the app will require you to log in before accessing the GPT3.5-powered (or GPT4 for Plus users) chatbot. The same step also applies to the web version. First-time users can sign up through either one of their Google accounts, Apple ID, or by simply signing up normally with their email address.

Moreover, OpenAI also requires users to have an active phone number for verification before the account can be created. After the login process, you can view and resume their previous chats with ChatGPT under the “History” tab. You can also start a new conversation. On top of that, you can talk with the chatbot using your voice through the speech-to-text feature.

It is also worth noting that long-pressing on a message from ChatGPT will open a menu. This will give you access to existing features from the desktop version. That includes the ability to regenerate a specific response, indicate whether a response is good or bad, select text, and copy text.

Meanwhile, you can also subscribe to ChatGPT Plus for advanced needs. ChatGPT Plus is an improved chatbot featuring the GPT4 large language model. It also operates on faster response speeds, more beta features, and access to the chatbot even in periods of high demand. Based on the notice in the app, this feature is coming soon. This feature will cost you US$20 (~RM90.22).
