Communications Ministry warns fake RM100 aid websites targeting Malaysians

As expected, scams about the RM100 aid by the Malaysian government have recently surfaced. The Communications Ministry has sent out a warning over a wave of fraudulent websites and social media posts impersonating government portals to exploit the public’s interest.

Scam Tactics and Fake Portals

Deputy Minister Teo Nie Ching highlighted deceptive links like BantuanNegara.com, which falsely claim to offer official aid registration. These sites mimic government branding — including Malaysia Madani and Bersama Malaysiaku logos — to trick users into submitting personal data.

“If it’s real, it’ll end with ‘.gov.my’,” Teo emphasised, urging users to verify URLs before clicking.

What to Watch Out For

  • No e-wallet deposits: The RM100 aid is not transferred to Touch ‘n Go or other apps.
  • MyKad-only redemption: Eligible recipients simply present their MyKad at participating outlets like Lotus’s, Mydin, 99 Speedmart, and selected grocers.
  • Scam evolution: Fraudsters are launching copycat sites like BantuanNegara1.com and BantuanNegara2.com to bypass blocks.

Government Action

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has begun blocking known scam domains. On top of that, citizens are urged to rely only on official government websites and verified social media accounts for updates. To quote Teo in a simple manner, “If you’re not sure, don’t click,".
