False information can easily spread through the internet and this is something that's particularly bad during the Covid-19 pandemic. Many tech companies such as Facebook have launched information centres, but a local research team has also been hard at work and has been recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) for its efforts.

According to Bernama, the research team has been working on a tracking website known as CoronaTracker. It has over 1800 volunteers from across the globe, including data scientists, medical professionals, UI/UX designers, full-stack developers, and general public helpers. Its purpose is to allow people to know the latest news on the virus and to collect data for analysis.

Led by Fairoza Amira Hamzah, the team accomplishes everything without having to meet face-to-face. Tools like Trello, Slack, GitHub, Google Drive, and more are used instead. The research team's hard work was rewarded on 19 March 2020 when the related research paper of "CoronaTracker: World-wide COVID-19 Outbreak Data Analysis and Prediction" was published on the WHO online bulletin.

The CoronaTracker is handy if you want to check the numbers and news related to the pandemic, so do make use of it to stay updated. With that said, what are your thoughts on the project and the research team's accomplishments? Let us know on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news.
