Previously, we reported that several Malaysian highways will be allowing users to pay tolls using debit and credit cards. Now, the open payment system has been expanded even further with the inclusion of the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE).

As reported by Bernama, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi confirmed the matter, saying that DUKE’s participation meant the number of highways involved has increased to 12. All of the highways involved will implement the open payment system starting this September.

Besides that, Nanta also announced that DUKE has been chosen as the second location for the implementation of the Proof of Concept (POC) for the Multi Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) system. This makes the highway the second after the Sungai Besi Expressway to test MLFF before it is implemented on all highways.

The transition to MLFF is expected to be implemented in phases by the third quarter of 2024. So, what do you guys think of this initiative by the government? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave for more trending tech news.
