Delivery of iPhone 13 phones could be delayed

Apple fans were undoubtedly excited with the iPhone 13 series revealed earlier this month. The company's latest smartphones are supposed to arrive in Malaysia around 12-14 October 2021. But we might not get them on time due to some issues.

According to Nikkei Asia, delivery of the iPhone 13 series smartphones could be delayed. The main reason is the COVID pandemic affecting the production of a key component. Specifically, the cameras. Apple implemented sensor-shift optical image stabilisation on all iPhone 13 models. As a result, suppliers in Vietnam had to ramp up production since there wasn't enough of those parts in stock.

Sources in the supply chain confirm that the phones can still be assembled. However, there's a supply gap that's causing the inventories for the camera modules to run low. The situation could improve in mid-October, which is when the phones were originally meant to be delivered. Of course, we could still get the iPhone 13 series on time. But that might depend on how high Malaysia is on the list of delivery priorities.
