Demand for foldable Razr smartphone too high, Motorola decides to delay launch

Seems that the clamshell design is something more people wanted than Motorola expected. In fact, it would seem that a foldable clamshell Razr 2019 is so interesting that too many people have been demanding for it. As a result, Motorola has decided to push back the launch date of the product.

Now, why would they do that? According to Tweaktown, the company wants to better meet consumer demand. From the sound of it, it's very likely that Motorola doesn't have that many units available to meet the current demand with the initial launch window. The company will probably be aiming manufacture more units in order so the expected launch date could be delayed to February or March 2020. Guess they'll have to call it Motorola Razr 2020 now.

Aside from being able to produce more of the new foldable smartphones, the extra time will probably allow Motorola to iron out any kinks found. Having said that, they won't be able to do much more than software changes if there are batches of the devices already produced. Still, it's better to be cautious with 1500 USD (~RM6210) products like these than experience what Samsung did with the Galaxy Fold.
