This week, Samsung officially launched its Samsung Galaxy S25 series in Malaysia, and one notable surprise is the pricing. Starting from RM3999 for the base Galaxy S25, Samsung has adjusted the cost compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 series. The move is a surprise especially with high-end features like the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC and advanced camera systems still intact. But why the pricing change, and what does it mean for Malaysian consumers? Read on and find out.
S24 vs S25 initial prices
The Samsung Galaxy S25 series was unveiled with three models: the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. Their pricing starts at RM3999, RM4999, and RM5999, respectively. This marks a noticeable adjustment compared to last year’s Galaxy S24 lineup. Below is a comparison of the pricing:
Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Prices:
-
Samsung Galaxy S24: Starting at RM4099
-
Galaxy S24+: Starting at RM4899
-
Galaxy S24 Ultra: Starting at RM6299
Galaxy S25 Series Prices:
-
Galaxy S25: Starting at RM3999
-
Galaxy S25+: Starting at RM4999
-
Galaxy S25 Ultra: Starting at RM5999
While we don’t have any official reasons as to Samsung’s decision, interestingly enough it comes after Apple did a similar price adjustment for their iPhone 16 series back in 2024. Samsung’s price adjustment likely makes the S25 series more competitive, especially for those looking for flagship devices.

Why Malaysians Should Take Note
As it is, both Apple and Samsung have made significant price adjustments to their flagship product range. In line with this, we expect other major smartphone brands in Malaysia to also follow in their footsteps.
This move is obviously better for the consumer, but we also realise that some brands may decide to do otherwise. As such, we’d recommend Malaysians to keep in mind last year’s prices for the upcoming smartphone brands of 2025.
