Digi completes Sabah 4G LTE rollout for Twitter campaign

Digi's Sivakumar Nagaretnam (Head of Network Planning), Anthony Ho (Head of Region for Sabah) and Cheong Chen Hoong (Head of Radio Access Planning) officially announcing the availability of Digi's 4G LTE coverage in Papar and Tenom, Sabah, after the two towns were voted by the public into the top 10 of Digi's #DigiWeWant4G Twitter campaign. 

In Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bdh (Digi)'s quest of installing 4G LTE coverage, Papar and Tenom in Sabah have been added to the list of towns voted by Malaysias via Digi's Twitter campaign #DigiWeWant4G. The campaign allows customers to tweet #DigiWeWant4G and the desired location, resulting the top ten most voted areas in addition to its original network rollout plan. 

Digi’s Head of Sabah Region, Anthony Ho, said, “Papar and Tenom in Sabah now join the list of towns in Digi’s rollout of 4G LTE after coming in the top 10 of our #DigiWeWant4G Twitter campaign. To date, we have deployed and switched on our 4G LTE infrastructure to serve customers in Setia Alam in the Klang Valley and the northern peninsular towns of Lunas, Batu Gajah, Jejawi and Arau. We’re pleased to be unveiling the people’s tower and powering up 4G LTE here in Papar as well as Tenom. We are looking to expand to other areas in East Malaysia in the coming weeks and we will bring 4G LTE to all top 10 areas soon.”

“The campaign was a great way for us to listen to our customers and is crucial to us as it helps us understand their needs and roll out our network strategically and efficiently while strengthening our coverage position. In Sabah, we have increased our 4G LTE coverage to 60% of populated areas which covers 20 cities and major towns,” he added. 

“Malaysians see the value of good 4G LTE coverage, and we look forward to see Digi customers enjoy a consistent high-speed internet experience on-the-go with for all they want to do: high-quality video and music streaming, faster sharing on social media and internet browsing, and more.”

The campaign first started end of last year, with the first Digi tower installed in Setia Alam, followed by the northen region of Semenanjung and now Sabah. To add on, this announcement also complements Digi's special Digi Postpaid 68 plan in East Malaysia; coming with 5GB of monthly internet quota, internet rollover, unlimited calls and SMS, unlimited music streaming, free cloud storage and a slew of other goodies including a 12-month subscription to iflix.
