Dimensity 8000 could be the next mid-range king, performs on par with Snapdragon 888

Last November, MediaTek unveiled the Dimensity 9000. The new 4nm chipset's performance is comparable to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. However, it's rumoured that phones with Dimensity 9000 won't be significantly cheaper. Luckily, sources say that the Dimensity 8000 could be a good alternative.

According to Digital Chat Station, the Dimensity 8000 scored 820230 in the AnTuTu benchmark. This means it's on par with the average score of the Snapdragon 888. MediaTek's chipset is also expected to be a mid-range option. This means that it could be cheaper than its Qualcomm counterpart, making Dimensity 8000-powered smartphones excellent value-for-money.

Mind you, there are a lot of other factors to consider, such as power draw. First, graphical performance. At 315470 points, the Dimensity 8000's GPU score in AnTuTu is on par with the Snapdragon 888 rather than a cheaper chipset like the Snapdragon 870. Moreover, there's a chance that the Dimensity 8000 could use less power than the Snapdragon 888. If that's the case, it should result in longer battery endurance.

Overall, it seems that we can expect good things from devices powered by the Dimensity 8000 chipset. The only question is if they offer better value. What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for updates on this.
