Dimensity 9200 could launch close to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in Nov 2022

Qualcomm's flagship chipsets more or less dominate the market. Of course, there's competition from MediaTek with its Dimensity chipsets. And the company wants to compete with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 by launching its flagship Dimensity 9200 chipset soon.

According to an industry analyst (via Wccftech), Mediatek could launch the Dimensity 9200 in November 2022. It's speculated that the launch could happen before or around the same time as the next Snapdragon Summit, which is scheduled for 15-17 November 2022. If this prediction is accurate, we could see new flagship smartphones bearing either chipset as early as December 2022.

Funny enough, the vivo X90 series could be the first to feature both chipsets. For those unaware, vivo likes to equip different chipsets for its X series flagship devices. And while it's rumoured that the vivo X90 series would come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, we won't be surprised if there's a model with the Dimensity 9200. The latter is expected to be a strong competitor, with AnTuTu scores as high as 1266102 points. For comparison, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 scores around 1118161 points.

There's no confirmed launch date for the Dimensity 9200, so take the claim with a grain of salt. We're keen to see MediaTek offer stronger competition, as it might drive down prices for chipsets (and possibly smartphones). But what do you think?
