Previously, we reported that Steam, Epic Games, Reddit and various other websites and online services have been blocked in Indonesia because they didn’t comply with a new law to have a Penyelenggara Sistem Elektronik (PSE) permit. Now, gamers in the country (well, at least games on Steam) can breath a sigh of relief as Steam is now operational again in Indonesia after the gaming platform complied with the new law.

The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) announced via its Twitter account that Valve Corp which operates Steam has successfully registered for a PSE permit. Furthermore, the ministry also announced that Yahoo has also been unblocked after getting PSE permits too.

Besides that, Kominfo has also unblocked PayPal for 5 days starting 31 July 2022 despite the company not applying for a PSE permit yet so that users in the country can withdraw money and make payments. However, based on Indonesian news portal Antara News, PayPal is reportedly planning to register for the permit soon too.

While Indonesians playing games on Steam can rejoice, the same can’t be said about other gaming platforms Epic Games and EA. As of right now both platforms have yet to disclose whether they wound comply with the new law and regulation.
