ESL One Genting tournament to be held at Resorts World Genting

If you think ASUS ROG's Champions Cup would be the last eSports scene we see in Malaysia, well don't fret, it's not the end yet because there's another tournament coming soon in January 2017. In an effort to help develop the Malaysian video games industry, Resorts World Genting has announced their collaboration with ESL to hold the first ever ESL One tournament in Resorts World Genting.

Titled ESL One Genting, the event will be held at the Arena of Stars from 6 -8 January 2017 with the world's best top 8 Dota 2 teams against each other, with the championship prize on the line worth RM1000000.

The name of the eight Dota 2 teams will be revealed in the coming months, it will consist of invited teams, internationally qualified teams and an exclusive Malaysian team. The last ESL that happened was in Manila, which attracted 16000 fans over the weekend with more than 2.5 million views tuning in online earlier this year.

"DotA's popularity in South East Asia is astonishing and the strategic partnership with Resorts World Genting opens a whole new way of delivering high-quality eSports content to one of the most enthusiastic, passionate and committed group of fans we've ever seen at ESL events." said Ulrich Schulze, VP of Pro Gaming at ESL.

Meanwhile, a long-time partner of ESL, Mineski Events Team (MET) was also present, they are known for operating the Mineski Pro Gaming League, as well as being the official organizer of ESL-sanctioned events within Southeast Asia.

"We have expanded to Malaysia as part of our goal to fortify the eSports scene in the entirety of South East Asia. Trust us, we are going to give everyone a spectacular adrenalin show!" said Ronald Robin CEO of Mineski Malaysia.
