Leaks of the early prototype model of the ASUS Zenfone 6

Ahead of the reveal of the ASUS Zenfone 6 at MWC 2019, leaks of the prototype of the anticipated smartphone has surfaced. As the race of which smartphone will be able to shrink and finally get rid of the pesky notch on the front of their phones rages on, the Asus Zenfone 6 seems to have gotten creative with placement of the notch on their screens.

Gsmarena.com reported images of the early prototype of the upcoming device having the notch in a waterdrop cut out but not in the way you’d expect it to be. The notch is placed on the top right of the screen instead of the usual middle of the screen, much to the horror of many. Besides that, other tech specs seem normal and in order with the phone, with the earpiece on the top bezel,  USB-C cable support, speakers on the bottom and, to our delight, a 3.5mm headphone jack, hallelujah!

There seems to be a black space underneath the camera which may likely be a PDAF sensor. It could also possibly be a fingerprint reader but that feature could be placed underneath the display instead like some of the more recently revealed phones. Due to the small size of the notch, the smartphone would most likely utilize a form of face scanning technology instead of a 3D infrared sensor, unlike the ASUS Zenfone 5Z.

So far, there has been no information on the upcoming device’s tech specs or Malaysia release dates. So what are your thoughts on how ASUS has placed the notch on ASUS Zenfone 6? Personally, we hope that they scrap that idea. However, these are leaks of an early prototype of the phone so do take this article with a grain of salt!
