Previously, we reported that consumers who suffered losses due to the major power outage last Wednesday (27 July 2022) can claim rebate from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). Now, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan has given an update on the rebate, saying that the decision on whether to provide rebate is subject to the result of ongoing investigation.
Takiyuddin elaborated that the said investigation is being carried out by TNB and the Energy Commission (ST) with its completion expected to be within one month of the power outage incident. According to Bernama, the investigation will also examine and determine whether TNB compiled with its Guaranteed Service Level (GSL).
The GSL is a service performance standard document set by the Energy Commission to ensure the quality of electricity supply and best services by TNB, including safeguarding the interest of consumers. Takiyuddin asserted that the final decision on the eligibility of TNB consumers to obtain rebates is subject to the investigation and on whether TNB adhered to the GSL.
