From time to time, some websites and platforms would crash due to server issues. But which one got the most outages of 2024? Ookla did some research from Downdetector and unsurprisingly, Facebook is leading the pack.
According to Downdetector, over 11.1 million people around the world have reported Facebook outages this year. Compared with Crowdstrike (which caused flights globally to pause temporarily) in second place, it only reached 5 million reports. Meanwhile, Meta's other owned platforms such as Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp, as well as other popular ones like Xbox Live and PlayStation network share similar reporting.

While there are no data for Malaysia, Downdector does have a chart for the Asia-Pacific Region. Once again, Facebook topped the chart with 908k reports, followed by Instagram with 317k reports. Microsoft 365 is in third place thanks to the aforementioned Crowdstrike outage. Other well-known apps include Snapchat, Telegram, WhatsApp, PlayStation Network and Twitter X.
