Facebook now lets you broadcast Messenger Rooms to Facebook Live

As many of you know, video calling has become the new norm for many in the past months. Platforms like Zoom and Microsoft Teams saw massive growth in user numbers, causing many companies to jump on the bandwagon. Facebook became one of them when it officially released Messenger Rooms last month and has now announced a rather interesting new feature.

According to TechCrunch, Facebook now lets you broadcast a Messenger Rooms chat to Facebook Live, which is Facebook's video streaming service. In other words, you can start a Messenger Rooms video call and stream it to any Facebook Page, Group or your timeline. The usual rules still apply, including the need for a link to access the call, a limit of 50 people, and the host being allowed to remove people if necessary.

Of course, what's different here is that the entire call will be broadcasted to an audience of your choice. This probably doesn't sound all that useful for the average user, but its application for a podcast and virtual conferences is immediately apparent. While this is already possible if you have broadcasting software, this feature allows you to directly broadcast without needing any extra software.

Facebook has rolled out the feature to a small number of people, but it will eventually be rolled out globally. Having said that, is this a feature you would find useful? Do let us know on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news.
