Have you ever shared news you found interesting, but didn't realise it was months old? Sometimes we didn't check the date and sometimes there isn't one, but the date of the news can often be important. Knowing this, Facebook has made it so that you will now know when you're sharing old news.
The company has announced that it is starting to globally roll-out a new feature. What it does is show you a notification if the news or article you are sharing is more than 90 days old. That way you won't make the mistake of sharing old news anymore. Of course, if the context of your post or conversation is to discuss or link to an old article, you can still choose to proceed with it.
Besides that, Facebook is also working on other types of notification screens. The company has confirmed that it's working on one for posts mentioning COVID-19, where a notification will be used to direct people to Facebook's COVID-19 Information Center. It will also have information on the source of the link.
Facebook's new notifications should help make people more aware of what they're sharing and that's a good thing. With that said, would you consider this a useful feature? Let us know on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news.
