Previously, we shared how Malaysia’s 5G network coverage has reached 82.4% of populated areas nationwide as of 31 December 2024. Well, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has provided more in-depth data on the matter, revealing that 5G network users in Malaysia have reached 53.35% or 18.19 million subscribers as of the same date.
Taking to his official Facebook page, Fahmi added that this is a good achievement in such a short period and lauded it as a big step in the Ministry’s efforts to develop a better telecommunication network for all. The data revealed was among the items presented at the 5G Dual Network Implementation Coordination Meeting that Fahmi chaired at the Ministry of Communications today.
The Communications Minister also shared the 5G network achievements as of Q4 2024, which revealed that the average 5G network download speed is 174Mbps. Moreover, a breakdown of the 5G network coverage in each Malaysian state was also shown, with Kuala Lumpur having the highest coverage at 97.8% and Sarawak the lowest at 63.8%.
