Recently, we went in-depth regarding CelcomDigi’s current performance in which we collected feedback from you, our readers, about your personal experience using the telco’s network post-merger. With many of you claiming that the network has gotten worse after the merger, it seems that the matter has caught the attention of the Communications Ministry as it has released a statement on the issue.

As reported by Malay Mail, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said that the connection problems faced by CelcomDigi’s users may be due to the company consolidating Celcom’s and Digi’s networks. Responding to the widespread complaints, Fahmi added that as of now, 30 per cent of the 24000 CelcomDigi have been merged.

The merged entity’s aim is for another 40% of the towers to be consolidated this year and the rest in 2025. The Communications Minister elaborated that due to the consolidation, it was expected for technical issues to occur.

Nevertheless, Fahmi stressed that he would immediately bring up the matter with CelcomDigi so that it could be settled. The Communications Minister was quoted as saying this during a press conference in Putrajaya earlier today.
