Previously, we reported that former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah has requested the 1MDB documentary titled “Man on the Run” on Netflix to be taken down. Now, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has commented on the request, saying that it will be scrutinised in a meeting with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
According to Bernama, Fahmi said that the government has not made any decision yet on the request due to it involving an ongoing court case. He added that initial views have been conveyed by MCMC to his ministry but felt that the commission should be given some consideration.
The Communications Minister further elaborated that he’ll be holding a meeting with MCMC soon to scrutinise the legal aspects before making any further announcements. Shafee, through his law firm Messrs Shafee & Co stated that 'Man on the Run,' written and directed by Cassius Michael Kim, is sub judice and detrimental to Najib's defence in the ongoing 1MDB trial.
