Late last month, the Xiaomi 17T Pro received its SIRIM certification. It was a strong hint that a launch was happening soon, which Xiaomi confirmed last week. Now, Xiaomi has also started to show us the phone online. Let's take a quick look at how it compares to the standard Xiaomi 17 series.
Slight design changes
Some of you may wonder what the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro look like. Design-wise, the two upcoming models look similar to the standard Xiaomi 17. It has the same flat sides and rounded corners, while the back features three cameras and an LED flash in a rectangular camera island.

Of course, they also have some subtle changes. First, the edges of the two Xiaomi 17T series phones aren't as curved. Secondly, the cameras for the new models are flush against the camera island. The camera bump is still there, but the aesthetics of the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17T are distinctive enough to tell them apart.
5x optical telephoto
As for the tech specs, previous leaks have already revealed some details of the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro. The former sports a Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, 12GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage. It's also expected to have a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 6500mAh battery, and three rear cameras.
Every distance tells a different story.

More importantly, Xiaomi confirmed that the Xiaomi 17T series would come with a telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and 115mm equivalent focal length. This telephoto camera is "standard on every model", which means both models will use the same telephoto camera. Interestingly, Xiaomi also claimed that the Xiaomi 17T series would have "10x optical-quality zoom" and up to 120x AI Ultra zoom.
Higher prices
Like most phones in 2026, the Xiaomi 17T series is likely to be pricier than last year's models because of the RAM supply issue. For reference, last year's Xiaomi 15T series had a starting price of RM1,899. This year, it's possible to see an RM100-200 increase in base prices. Not too high, but it definitely makes you think about whether it's worth upgrading to.
