Although the Pixel 9 phones are now available in Malaysia, Google has confirmed that the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is not coming here this year. However, we will definitely see the next-gen next year. So in the meantime, here's everything you need to know about the new foldable.
According to Google, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a fluid-friction hinge that can open and close the 8-inch Super Actua Flex display fully, whereas the external Actua display is 6.3 inches. For protection purposes, it is equipped with scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and an IPX8 rating for water resistance of up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes of submersion. Compared with the Pixel Fold, the new display is 80% brighter.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold's tech specs are the same as the rest of the Pixel 9 lineup. This includes the Tensor G4 chip, 16 of RAM, 256GB or 512GB of storage, a triple 48MP (primary) + 10.5MP (ultrawide) + 10.8MP (telephoto) rear camera, while the front and inner camera are 10MP. As a foldable device, its battery pack is 4650mAh with 45W fast charging technology.
Moreover, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has Google AI functions powered by the Tensor G4 chip. This includes Pixel Screenshots, Pixel Studio, Circle to Search, Summarize and Gemini, plus features including Magic Editor, Best Take, Video Boost, Add Me and Pro Controls. In addition to existing features like Dual Screen Preview, Tabletop Mode and Rear Camera Selfie, Google is also integrating a new camera feature for parents: Made You Look which was designed to grab their children's attention when taking a photo.
To make use of the large displays, Pixel 9 Pro Fold owners can use multiview on YouTube TV whereby they can watch up to four preselected events at once. Google also said it has partnered with several gaming developers to offer optimised mobile games like Asphalt Unite, Disney Speedstorm, Minecraft, Candy Crush Soda Saga, NBA Infinite and League of Legends: Wild Rift.
In the US, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold's starting price is from $1,799 (almost ~RM8K). If you want to know more about the Pixel 9 phones in Malaysia, you can check out our news coverage right over here.
